The more thorough planning we do beforehand, the more you can go on ‘autopilot’ the day of your wedding and simply stay present!
I’ve created a sample timeline below to help you visualize the flow of your wedding day as it pertains to your wedding day photography.
We’ll chat about any unique needs and wishes you may have on your consult call, and then we’ll go over your personalized timeline together several weeks before your wedding to make sure we’re on the same page and ready to go.
1:30 Bridal Details
I’ll start by capturing your wedding flat lays, rings, invitations, gown, etc.
During our wedding day photography planning process, I’ll confirm your color palette and details, so that I can prepare my flat lay kit to make sure everything coordinates with your wedding vision.
2:15 Bridal Party Prep
Then I’ll capture the final touches of hair and makeup, maybe a fun matching robe and champagne pop photo, and then bride getting helped into her gown.
3:00 First Look
The first look is when a couple sees each other for the first time on their wedding day before the ceremony.
This intimate moment typically makes for an emotional photo opportunity.
It also allows you to finish most of your portraits pre-ceremony, so you have more time to celebrate after!
First looks are totally optional, and we can re-arrange your wedding photography timeline in another efficient way if this is something you choose not do.
3:15 Couple Portraits
During couple portraits, we’ll capture candid and posed photos of the two of you dressed in your best on your beautiful wedding day.
If we’ve had your engagement session together, this makes your wedding day portraits super easy because a lot of the posing and my style of posing will already be familiar to you.
3:45 Bridal Party and Immediate Family Portraits
During bridal party portraits we will capture your whole bridal crew in some posed, and some fun photos.
Then I’ll capture candid and posed photos of the brides party – in a group, and with each individual.
Then we’ll do the same with the grooms party. I keep the process fun and efficient!
We’ll also capture individual family portraits at this time – for example bride alone with her immediate family, and groom alone with his immediate family.
4:15 Bride in “Hiding”
Guests sometimes start arriving about an hour before the ceremony begins. I’ve noticed it’s usually elder relatives – they’re always the most punctual 😉
This is the perfect opportunity for everyone in the bridal party to take bathroom breaks, and touch up before the ceremony and the rest of the wedding day fun begins!
4:15 Reception Details
While the bridal party is in hiding, my photography team and I will capture all those beautiful wedding day details and touches that you’ve planned for your dream wedding day.
We’ll capture photos of your wedding venue and wedding decor, the wedding ceremony space, the cocktail hour space, the wedding reception space.
We absolutely love wedding day details, and are always so excited to see everything come together!
It’s time for the big “I do”! The moment you’ve always dreamed of!
During your ceremony, I typically stay at the front capturing grooms reaction, along with the processional. Then I move to the center of the aisle to capture all of the important moments – and don’t worry, I won’t be “all up in your business” 🙂 I use a zoom lens so that I can get the close up shots without being close up!
Meanwhile, my photography team will be making their way around the space, capturing guest reactions and different angles of your ceremony.
Pro Tip: After you’ve said “I do”, be sure to stop mid-way down the aisle for a kiss. If you want to dip down into the kiss, just be sure you’re facing the camera and not turned around 🙂
5:30 Family Portraits
After the ceremony, we’ll continue with family portraits. This time, we’ll include you and your honey together with both of your families!
Ideally it’s best to keep it to 10 groupings or less. You’ll be taking a lot of photos during the day, and at this point I know you’re excited to grab a drink and celebrate!
If there’s extended family portraits, or photos with specific friend groups you were hoping to capture, let me know and we’ll pull those family and friends aside during the reception for extra group photos.
6:00 A few “Just Married” Portraits
Of course we’ll want to capture some of your first intimate moments as husband and wife.
And if we’re right at sunset – even better!
The lighting is just divine at this time, and these photos of you newly wedded are extra special to have.
Don’t worry, we’ll make it short and sweet! And we’ll make sure you have time to bustle and touch up before you’re announced into your wedding reception.
6:30 Reception Begins
Now it’s time to celebrate!!
All the hard work and planning leading up to this day – you deserve it!
At this time we’ll be capturing the grand entrances, first dance, parent dances, toasts, cake cutting, and of course the dance floor!
And I’m not gonna lie – after everything we’ve been through with you, and all the fun we’ve had with your bridal party and family throughout the day – we love getting out there dancing and celebrating with ya’ll, while capturing some pretty epic dance photos of course! 🙂
9:30 The Grand Exit
These grand exits are so much fun – the sparkler tunnel, adoring crowd, driving off into the sunset.
After Rachel and Kyle’s grand sparkler exit, they actually had a hot dog cart set up for guests to grab a late night post-wedding snack.
Pretty amazing idea if you ask me!
So here you have it – this is what you can expect your wedding day to look like with Tabitha Baldwin Photography.
