When it comes to picturesque Northeast Florida locations, the Boneyard Beach of Jacksonville, Florida’s Big Talbot Island is one of my top spots for engagement portrait sessions!

I always schedule my portrait sessions here about 2 hours before sunset, during golden hour when lighting is the dreamiest for portraits! I meet my clients at the gravel parking lot at Black Rock Trail off Heckscher Drive, then take the 10 minute trail walk down to the beach together.

Note that there’s a $3 parking fee, so please be sure to bring cash to put in the envelope provided.

I love stopping along the trail walk to grab some cute trail pics – really adds some variety to your gallery, considering the contrast to the beach!

Clients that book a 90 minute session will use this portion of their session to wear one outfit, and will typically change into another outfit for the beach portraits. I have a beach wagon and a pop up tent to help make outfit changes easier for my clients!

Once we make it down to the gorgeous beach, we’ll work our way from the driftwood to the black rock. There’s so much beauty along the Atlantic Ocean shores of this Northeast Florida beach.

True story, I had one client yell “Are we in Jamaica?!”, when he first laid eyes on this beach lol. It truly doesn’t even feel like we’re in Florida anymore – it’s such a cool location!
