In this blog, I’m going to share 3 tips to guarantee a fun, easy process to help ease nerves and have an enjoyable portrait session experience with Jacksonville, Florida photographer, Tabitha Baldwin!

Let’s plan your session doing an activity you both love!

For Emily and Nate’s anniversary portrait session, as shown in this blog, we decided to take their anniversary portraits at a location that was special to them – their happy place!

Nate doesn’t particularly love having his photo’s taken, but we had him in his happy place – in his boat out on the water of the Intracoastal Waterway in Jacksonville, Florida – and with his most favorite person, his beautiful wife Emily.

I mean, how could we not get a genuine smile out of him!

Keep It Candid and Casual

While of course, we love the smiling at the camera photos, sometimes it’s those candid, interaction photos that are so much more special!

A bonus to that, is that those smiles don’t feel forced. I’m all about helping to create moments. Moments that feel real. Getting to know you, and helping to facilitate moments during your portrait session that bring out the happy and the love.

Plan a date night afterwards to celebrate

It’s funny, I always recommend clients to tell their children that if they behave during their portrait session, you’ll take them out for a treat afterwards!

Hey, this same rule applies with your honey!

Make your portrait session a part of your date night! That way, when they go into their portrait session, they know they have something to look forward to afterwards! Maybe it’s a favorite restaurant for dinner, or stopping for ice cream, or going to listen to a band they love!

We all like to be treated, and I think it’s safe to say that treats make us happy 😉
