The phrase “Babies don’t keep” is often used in the context of parenting and motherhood. It comes from a beautiful poem called “Song for a Fifth Child” written by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton in 1958. The poem reflects on the fleeting nature of childhood and the importance of cherishing the moments spent with young children, as they grow up quickly. Mommy and me photo sessions are a perfect way to document this fleeting time between a mother and her little ones.
When my photography client, Brooke, reached out to me to capture her mommy and me family portraits with her baby girl, Sutton, I felt truly honored and excited to do just that! She envisioned a beautiful park, with a picnic blanket, and sweet intimate moments captured of her and her daughter for her family photos.
We decided on Johansen Park in Atlantic Beach, Florida for her mommy and me photo session, as the park has tons of natural beauty, the softest most beautiful light in the mornings and late afternoons, and is more secluded than other big parks in Northeast Florida. This Atlantic Beach, Florida park is also a super convenient location, easily accessible family photo session location for residents of the Jacksonville Beaches area.
I loved the matching pink outfits they chose for their photo session from LoveShack Fancy. This boutique has a beautiful variety of high-end women’s and girls dresses and outfits, perfect for family photo sessions!
Here are some of my favorite photos from Brooke and Sutton’s mommy and me family portrait session in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
